CTAC Nurses

The Community Treatment and Care (CTAC) service is a nurse-led service provided by NHS Ayrshire & Arran, working in partnership with your local GP practice. CTAC focuses on routine treatments and checks, supporting your General Practice Team to concentrate on more complex healthcare needs. This means you get access to timely quality care, delivered by skilled nurses and healthcare support workers.

We offer a range of services to support your health, including:

  • Blood tests (known as venepuncture or phlebotomy)
  • Wound care and dressing changes
  • Doppler assessments (to check lower limb blood flow)
  • Blood pressure checks
  • Monitoring long-term health conditions
  • Diabetic foot checks
  • Ear care advice and management of ear wax (including Ear Irrigation where appropriate)
  • Heart tracings (ECGs), where available and requested by your GP
  • Care for minor injuries including tetanus vaccination if required
  • Patient education, lifestyle advice and health promotion

Our goal is to provide access to quality care close to home, making it easier for you to stay healthy and well.

Health Visitors

Our health visiting service attend the homes of children before they transfer to school, ensuring children are growing and developing well and providing support for parents and carers. They can support with infant feeding, weaning, sleep, behaviour and toilet training issues. They also provide social support and signposting for housing problems, parental mental health, domestic abuse and substance misuse. Child Immunisation

Every Tuesday & Friday morning at North West Kilmarnock Area Centre with the Health Visitor


Community Nurses

Community Nurses work with your doctor in providing home care as required. They can be contacted through the surgery or at the Central Clinic nearby on 01563 545700.


Mental Health Practitioners

Your Mental Health Practtitioners, can offer assessment and provide guidance for adults who are experiencing mental health difficulties.

 


Community Connector

Your Community Connector, can provide a responsive and holistic service for clients, providing advice, information and assistance tailored to the client's needs. Community connectors help empower people to better manage their social wellbeing through

  • Combating isolation
  • Providing motivationfor lifestyle change.
  • Building confidence and support networks
  • Linking to practical resourcesand helping people navigateadditional services.

MSK Physiotherapy

Currently we do not have a First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP). Their role is to:

  • Assess you and diagnose what's happening
  • Give expert advice on how best to manage your condition
  • Refer you on to specialist services if necessary.

Stop Smoking: Quit Your Way

Giving up smoking is not something you have to do on your own. There is a NHS service available in Ayrshire to help you succeed.

Quit Your Way is a free stop smoking service which can provide a cut to quit with smoking and vaping. We also provide free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and behavioural support.

Old Irvine Road Surgery offers telephone appointments at our "Stop Smoking Clinic" on Friday's from 9.30am to 12.00pm.
